Acer Aspire AS5250-0468

Another laptop coming from ACER which is powered by AMD Accelerated Processing Unit is now available in the market, the Acer AS5250-0468. The Acer AS5250-0468 is a 15.6-inch laptop that is priced just around US$330. This 15.6-inch laptop sports 1.3Ghz 1MB L2 cache AMD E-300 dual-core APU processor with a 2GB of DDR3 Dual-Channel RAM and AMD A50M Fusion™ chipset, a 15.6-inch Acer High Definition Widescreen CineCrystal color TFT-LCD display with a resolution of about 1366 x 768 pixels, an ATI Radeon HD 6310 graphics and a 250GB 5400RPM hard disk drive. The Acer AS5250-0468 runs on the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.

With regards to the AMD E-300 APU processor, it has a PASSMARK rating of 602. This rating is slightly higher than Intel Atom N550 that is 567, but slightly lower than Intel Atom N570 which has a rating of 646. Compared to other AMD APUs, AMD E-300 PASSMARK is lower than AMD E-450 with a rating of 768, AMD E-350 with a rating of 726, but higher that AMD C-50 with a rating of 452. The higher the PASSMARK rating, the better the CPU. The PassMark PerformanceTest permits you to quantitatively benchmark a PC using a variety of different speed tests and compare the results to other computers.

On the GPU side, the AMD Radeon HD 6310 is an incorporated graphics card in the Zacate netbook processor. It is built on the same graphics core as the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 but lacking of any dedicated memory. Likewise, it packs the newer UVD3 video processor that permits the decoding of High Definition videos. It allows also the parallel decoding of two MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1 streams and therefore compatible to BD-Live.

The Acer AS5250-0468 is also packed with 8X DVD±RW DL optical disk drive, a high-definition audio support, built-in stereo speakers, webcam, multi-gesture touchpad, a 802.11b/g/n WLAN, gigabit LAN, a USB, 2-in-1 card reader and a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery
