AMD E2-1800, the new Accelerated Processor from AMD

Just like Intel, AMD has launched new accelerated processors in the market; one of them is the AMD E2-1800. This new accelerated processor is based on Brazos 2.0 which is intended to replace the popular E-450 APU.

This new APU offers slight improvement on its CPU and GPU compared to the older E-450 processor. The new AMD E2-1800 accelerated processor has a level 1 cache of 128kB and level 2 cache of 1024 kB. This APU uses out-of-order execution and therefore this is faster compared to similarly clocked Atom processor but performs less compared to Celeron and Athlon II processors.

The AMD E2-1800 APU runs at a clock speed of 1.7 GHz, this is higher by 50 MHz compared to E-450 with a clock speed of 1.65 GHz. With this slight increase in the clock speed, do you think it is worth to upgrade?

With respect to GPU, the AMD E2-1800 accelerated processor has an integrated graphics controller dubbed Radeon HD 7340 that features 80 shaders and an UVD3 video processor. This Radeon HD 7340 is said to be as powerful as Nvidia ION graphics controller but far better than Intel GMA 3150 GPU found in Atom processors. Compared to E-450’s GPU, the E2-1800 has a higher clock speed of about 20-80MHz.

Furthermore, this AMD E2-1800 accelerated processor has a Thermal Design Power of about 18 watts which makes it best suited for small notebooks and netbooks PC.

Below is a list of several processors and their PassMark Score, the higher the PassMark Score the better the performance of the processor.

I hope they take care of their heat sink issues that were present in previous models. Personally, I would always go with Intel.

I've never tried AMD before but this one looks very promising.

This information is too much for me, hahaha! I don't have any idea with this topic. But for those who knows, I'm sure they got something new about this. Thanks for sharing :)

I think my previous setup used AMD, now were back with Intel. Or I could be wrong. Mostly I let the boyfriend have free reign on what to get for the computer. I just approve :)

Good share although I don't really have idea what's AMD about. Anyways that "Learning HTML" on the side bar is a big help to me thanks!

I can't comprehend too...hahahaha!!!!Too much technical words is not for me.

Though AMD has ended tried to par with its competition, still, there issues with their processor that they need to address to just like what avagabondmom has stated on her post.

I like its thermal design power. We seriously need it.

AMD Athlon are realy fast processors, but the downer is the heat that they dissipate.

Geez, my brain shutdown reading the first few sentences. This is just too technical for me but I'll share this with my hubby who's also tech savvy.

The hubby has always relied on AMD processors, our PCs all have them hihi.I'm not sure though which exactly since I leave the techie side of things to him :D - Marie@ViennaAndBeyond
