Amazon's Kindle Touch

Kindle Touch is an eBook reader manufactured by Amazon. The Kindle Touch sports Amazon's 6-inch diagonal most advanced multi-touch display, enhanced with trademarked waveform and font technology and has 600 x 800 effective resolution at 167 pixel per inch, 16-level grayscale. This slate is equipped with 4 GB internal storage wherein approximately 3 GB is available for user content, and it can hold up to 3,000 eBooks. The Kindle Touch supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n standard. It has also support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication.

The Kindle Touch also features a USB 2.0 micro-B connector, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack and supports the following file formats: Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, Audible (Audible Enhanced(AA,AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.

In terms of battery juice, a single charge can lasts up to two months with wireless connectivity off based upon a half-hour of daily reading time. If the wireless connectivity is always on it will lasts for up to 6 weeks. According to Amazon the battery life will vary based on wireless usage. The Kindle Touch will be fully charged in just about 4 hours thru the included USB 2.0 cable attached to a computer.

The Kindle Touch has a dimension of 6.8" x 4.7" x 0.40" and weighs just 213 grams. It is priced at Amazon at about US$99. This eBook reader is up for just US$79 at Walmart’s Black Friday Sale.
