- Serial numbers are alphanumeric characters printed at the lowermost of the name plate on the bottom of the battery as shown.
- Check the 9th digit of the lot number as indicated below.
- Should the 9th digit of the EN-EL15 battery serial number is E or F then the battery needs to be replaced as it may be affected by this problem.
- Should the 9th digit of the EN-EL15 battery serial number is A, B, C, D, G or any succeeding letter in the alphabet then the battery is not dangerous to use.

Nikon Announces Recall on its EN-EL15 Battery
Nikon has decided to recall some EN-EL15 batteries used in the Nikon D7000, D800, D800E and Nikon 1 V1 cameras. To identify whether your battery is affected by the issue: Identify the serial number of your battery.
