The New iPad : Third Generation, Retina Display, 5 MP Camera, 4G LTE

Apple has unveiled the successor of the iPad2, the iPad. Yes, just iPad! It seems that even Apple refused to call it iPad3 in their press conference in San Francisco last Wednesday with the company’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller. They call it as simple as “the New iPad”.

The new features of the new third generation iPad includes retina display – boasting four times as many pixels as the older iPad, which makes everything look like a printed photograph; improved camera which is now 5 megapixels; lightning speed 4G LTE internet connection – this feature can be enjoyed only by those people who have access to 4G LTE internet.

For the third generation iPad (WIFI only) version, it features LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors with 1536 x 2048 resolution, 9.7 inches display size and Scratch-resistant glass, oleophobic coating; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n; v4.0 with A2DP; USB v2.0; 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 resolution with autofocus and features Touch focus, geo-tagging, HDR, face detection; captures video at 1080p@30fps with video stabilization; secondary VGA camera that offers 480p@30fps, videocalling over Wi-Fi only; iOS 5.1 operating system; Apple A5X chipset; Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU; PowerVR SGX543MP4 (quad-core graphics) GPU; Accelerometer, gyro, compass; iMessage, Email, Push Email, IM messaging; iCloud cloud service; Siri natural language commands and dictation; Twitter integration; MP4/MP3/WAV/AAC player; Photo viewer/editor; Audio&video player/editor; iBooks PDF reader; Google Maps; TV-out and a Li-Po 42.5 Wh standard battery.

The third generation iPad 4G has almost the same specs as the iPad WIFI only, the only difference is that, the iPad 4G is 4G/LTE capable so you can browse the internet at a lightning speed but is available only in selected areas.

The new, third generation, iPad, will be available in the US, UK and ten other countries this Friday and worldwide by the end of March. It will be available at about £399 for the wi-fi-only (16GB version) to as high as £659 for the 64GB, 4G model. It has the same price range as when the iPad2 was made available last year.
