HP Pavilion dv6-6117dx with AMD A-Series Processor

The HP dv6-6117dx has a 15.6-inch LED high-definition widescreen display with BrightView technology and 1366 x 768 resolution. The HP dv6-6117dx is equipped with the new AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M Accelerated Processor. The AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M processor core is clocked initially at 1.5 GHz but will be able to automatically overclock up to 2.4 GHz because of the TurboCore technology, depending on temperature and used cores of the processor. The A8-3500M processor features an incorporated DirectX 11 capable graphics controller with a maximum of 400 cores, dubbed AMD Radeon HD 6620G.

This integrated graphics controller offers all 320 cores at 444MHz. Moreover, the integrated graphics controller of AMD A8-3500M has no dedicated memory and will not be able to use the integrated cache. It also features an integrated UVD3 video processor to decode most commonly used HD videos such as H.264, VC-1, MPEG4 and more. Furthermore, it has Brushed aluminum finish in steel gray for a stylish appearance.

The HP dv6-6117dx also comes with the following important features: 4GB DDR3 memory for multitasking power and expandable to 16GB; 500GB Serial ATA hard disk drive that runs at 5400 RPM – much better if it supports 7200 RPM; multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support; multiformat media reader; built-in HP TrueVision high-definition webcam; built-in fingerprint reader for extra security and 6-cell lithium-ion battery.

In terms of connectivity, the HP dv6-6117dx comes with 2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (a plus factor) and 2 high-speed USB 2.0 ports; built-in wireless LAN that supports 802.11b/g/n technologies; and Gigabit Ethernet LAN (RJ45).

This HP dv6-6117dx runs with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit operating system and bundled with software products such as Adobe Reader X, Adobe Flash Player and more. This laptop weighs just about 6 lbs. and measures just 1.4 inch thin. The HP dv6-6117dx is available at around $430.
